Hello everyone! My name is Samantha Andersen, and I am a writer. I am also an avid reader, because it is my belief that the two should go hand-in-hand. I have been writing stories since before I even knew how to properly spell words. I still have many of those stapled computer paper “books” I would make when I was young to remind me of my humble origins.
Nowadays I’m writing stories of fantasy and romance, genres that I can’t seem to get enough of. As the great Toni Morrison once said, “if there is a book that you want to read, but it hasn’t been written yet, you must be the one to write it”. That quote sums up my purpose for writing. Really, I am a reader above all else and my goal of stringing together sentence after sentence, draft after draft, is so I can have my dream story out in reality.
I have written a handful of short stories and novelettes, many of which are currently, or will be, published on my website. Many of my short stories have darker, more somber themes and tones, which seems to contrast with the lightness and romance in my longer pieces of work. My current novel in progress is called The Path to Grimmstrung, and it is a retelling of “Little Red Riding Hood”. The first draft has been completed but it still has a long path (pun intended) ahead before publication.
